Produce to
the Pantries

We aim to support local food access and address food insecurity by purchasing fresh produce from local farms for charitable distribution to food pantries, meal programs, and other food relief efforts in our community.

Produce Purchase Guarantee

A weekly farmers market food recovery program.

The Produce Purchase Guarantee Program is a weekly farmers market food recovery program. The program works in partnership with Macon County Farmers Market and Cowee School Farmers Market.

For the duration of the market season, Franklin Farm Hub purchases leftover produce at the end of market, up to $100 per vendor per week. The purchased produce is donated to local food pantries to feed food-insecure individuals and families.

This program is a win-win for all. Food goes unwasted, local farmers benefit economically, and people in need gain access to fresh, local produce. Keeping local food, local!

Fresh Access Franklin

Free local produce in solar-powered community fridges.

Fresh Access Franklin is building three solar-powered community fridges. These will be located around Franklin, and will allow 24/7 access to free, fresh food. Franklin Farm Hub will be in charge of stocking the fridges with local farm produce. Each location will also contribute to the upkeep and stocking of their fridges. Donations will be accepted, of home-cooked or pre-made meals, dry goods, and fresh ingredients. More information about ways that community members and local businesses can support each fridge site will be provided upon completion of fridge kiosk construction.

We are so grateful for our collaborators! This project is made possible with a generous grant from Dogwood Health Trust. As Lead Organization on the grant, The International Friendship Center is coordinating this initiative with Franklin Farm Hub, Vecinos, Smoky Mountain Harm Reduction, and First UMC Methodist Church as co-partners.

Community Farm

Lowering the barriers of entry into farming.

Launching in 2026, the community farm will offer educational experiences centered around food, farming, and land stewardship. As we continue to grow, this program will offer technical assistance and land access to local farmers.
